Single Engine Piston Aeronca 7 Champion AC
Designed for flight training and personal use, the Aeronca Model 7 Champion is a single engine, two seat aircraft. Commonly known as the Champ, the aircraft entered into production in 1945. The empty weight is 740 lbs and the maximum takeoff weight is 1,220s. The cruise speed is 85 mph, the stall speed is 38 mph, and the maximum speed is 100 mph.
The Champ can be soloed from the front, which gives the pilot improved forward visibility on the ground and during takeoffs, landing, and climbs.
The fuselage and tail surfaces are constructed of welded metal tubing. The fuselage's outer shape is created by a combination of wooden formers and longerons covered with fabric. The cross section of the metal fuselage truss is triangular. The strut-braced wings are fabric covered utilizing aluminum ribs. Most aircraft were built with wooden spars. The Aeronca Champion is equipped with a Continental A65-8 piston engine.
