The 11AC was powered by a Continental A-65-8 engine of 65 hp with a McDowell mechanical starter.

The fuselage and tail surfaces are constructed of welded metal tubing. The fuselage's outer shape is created by a combination of wooden formers and longerons covered with fabric. The Aeronca Champion is equipped with a 65 hp Continental A65-8 piston engine.
