This is the same engine as the later Cessna 172 range. 172's with 0-320's are very popular due to this engine. They are very reliable with a low fuel burn. Planes that are flown regularly (like this one and in flight schools) run these engines over 3000 hours. The engine has only a single overhaul in 86 - right at 2000 hours - so can be easily done again. In it's current state I expect it'll do 3000 hours easily before that anyway.

This plane has been cared for and a great deal of effort has been done to address all items and keep the aircraft to an excellent maintenance standard. It has never been commercially registered or been in a flight school. In my ownership the oil has been changed every 25 hours, has never made any metal.

To address the performance concerns of the original 68' a different strategy was employed on this aircraft. A Powerflow exhaust was fitted in tandem with the entire catalogue of Maple Leaf speed Mods, to find that sweet spot of massive drag reduction with an increase in engine power. As a result it's climb rate and cruise fuel burn is improved dramatically over the standard 1968. This provides nice step-up from the original, without the maintenance bills of a C/S prop, and the inherit disadvantages of a larger engine. (A larger engine has increased fuel burn, increased fuel carrying requirements and an increased engine weight - which all eat up useful load. They also add weight to the nose of the plane, altering the W&B). In addition the 0-320 is known to be incredibly reliable and often will exceed TBO when well maintained. It is also the cheaper engine to overhaul when the time comes. This strategy worked and this plane is the 68 they should have built originally.

The plane spent the majority of it's life in the Canadian prairies (1972-2015), moving to BC in 2015. No hail or weather damage as it lives in a hangar year-round.

Added Value
The paint and speed upgrades are worth over 40K+ alone.
This plane has been owned by a variety of fussy owners, with no expense spared on its maintenance and care. This IS a plane that lives INSIDE in high quality hangars, has done for a LONG TIME with no signs of bugs, weather damage, paint fade or wear and tear from long-term exposure to the outside elements. It shows better than most planes half its age. It turns heads everywhere it goes. Amazingly looks better in real life inside and out.

Hangared in Pemberton BC. Happy to show it/fly it.
Mechanical inspections welcome with a deposit.

The airplane is still being actively flown, so times are subject to change.
