Beechcraft King Air 200 Series Aircraft Information

Produced by Beech Aircraft Corporation the Beechcraft Super King Air family is part of a line of twin-turboprop aircraft. The King Air line comprises a number of models that fall into two families: King Air - Model 90 Series and Model 100 Series and the Super King Air - Model 200 Series and Model 300 Series. The Super King Air 200 has the capacity for 1-2 crew members and 13 passengers. The empty weight is 7,755 lb (3,520 kg) and the maximum takeoff weight is 12,500 lb (5670 kg). Cruise speed is 289 knots (333 mph, 536 km/h), stall speed is 75 knots (86 mph, 139 km/h), and the maximum speed is 294 knots (339 mph, 545 km/h). The rate of climb is 2,450 ft/min (12.5 m/s). The 200 and 300 series were originally marketed as the "Super King Air" but the "Super" was dropped in 1996.

In 1969, originally developed as the Model 101, the Model 200 was a development of the Model 100 King Air. Variant models include the Model King Air 200, Model A200, Model 200T, Model A200C, Model 200C, Model A200CT, Model 200CT, Model King Air B200, Model B200C, Model B200T, Model B200CT, Model B200 (marketed as King Air 250), Model King Air B200GT, and Model B200CGT. The Model 200 features changes to the rear fuselage to accommodate a new T-tail and structural changes to allow higher maximum pressurization. The aircraft is powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-41 engines rated at 1,015 shp.

The Model 200T was configured for aerial surveying or reconnaissance in 1976. Modification included changes to the belly aft of the wing to allow photography with a vertical camera, dome-shaped windows on the sides of the rear fuselage to allow observation directly below the aircraft by occupants, provision for a surveillance radar in a pod under the fuselage, and a 50 US gallon useable capacity fuel tank on each wingtip to increase the aircraft's range.

In 1979, the Model 200C was introduced. The aircraft had a large cargo door on the LH side of the rear fuselage with an airstair door. A large range of items could be loaded into the cabin with the 200C's 4 ft 4 in high by 4 ft 4 in wide door. The B200, B200C, and their derivatives were fitted with a revised landing gear retraction mechanism, actuated by hydraulic rams powered by an electric pump installed in the LH wing starting in 1984. These upgrades replaced the electro-mechanical retraction system of gearboxes, driveshafts, chains, and sprockets.

In 1992, the propeller installation was changed and Beechcraft started offering the option of having 4-bladed Hartzell or McCauley propellers, or 3-bladed Hartzell propellers. Marketed as the "B200SE Super King Air" updated Electronic Flight Instrument System avionics was offered starting in 1995. Another avionics upgrade the Rockwell Collins Proline 21 suite was announced in 2003.
