Bell 212 Aircraft Information
Also known as the Twin Huey, the Bell 212 is a medium, two bladed, twin engine helicopter. The 212 is a civilian variation of the UH-1N Twin Huey. It features a fifteen seat capacity for one pilot and 14 passengers. The aircraft has an empty weight of 6,529 lbs (2,961 kg) and a maximum takeoff weight of 11,200 lbs (5,080 kg). The cruise speed is 100 kts (115 mph, 186 km/h), and the maximum speed is 120 kts (138 mph, 223 km/h).
The Bell 212 is based on the Bell 205 model. It features the same stretched fuselage as the earlier model. The aircraft is powered by a {Pratt & Whitney} Canada PT6T-3 Twin Pac engine.
Currently the helicopter is used for maritime rescue, in logging operations, and resupply in the Artic. Its first uses include support for oil rigs in Norway by the Helicopter Service AS.
