Cessna 152 Aircraft Information
Primarily used for flight training and personal use, the Cessna 152 is two-seat, fixed tricycle landing gear, general aviation aircraft. The capacity of the 152 is for a pilot and a passenger. Empty weight is 1081 lb (490 kg) and maximum takeoff weight is 1670 lb (757 kg). Cruise speed is 107 knots (123 mph, 198 km/h), stall speed is 43 knots (49 mph, 79 km/h), and maximum speed is 110 knots (126 mph, 204 km/h).
Developed from the Cessna 150 and produced from 1977 to 1985, 7584 Cessna 152s were built. Variant models include the 152, A152 Aerobat, F152, and FA152 Aerobat. The majority of 152s were built at the Cessna factory in Wichita, Kansas; but a number were built by Reims Aviation in France (the F152 and FA152). In 1985, when Cessna ended production of their light aircraft, the production of the 152 ceased.
All Cessna 152s were manufactured with a Lycoming O-235 engine. The airframe of the 152 is an all-metal construction. Almost all 152s are equipped with dual flying controls. The undercarriage is equipped with fixed tricycle landing gear. The most frequently installed modifications include tailwheel landing gear, STOL kits, and increased powered engines.
The original 152 was powered by a 110 horsepower Lycoming O-235-L2C piston engine. There was a 152 II with an enhanced package of avionics and trim features. A standard option package for use by fling schools was the 152T, the "T" indicating trainer. Cessna built 315 two-seat aerobatics aircraft (A152 Aerobat). The A152 Aerobat has a distinctive checkerboard paint scheme. Other features include standard four point harnesses, skylights, jetisonable doors, and removable seat cushions to allow parachutes to be worn by the crew.
