    Diamond DA42 Twinstar Aircraft Information

    The Diamond DA42 Twin Star seats three passengers and one crew member with a twin engine and is propeller driven. The maximum speed of the aircraft is 222 mph (356km/h). The empty weight is 2761 lbs (1251 kg) and the maximum takeoff weight is 3748 lbs (1700 kg).

    The aircraft has a Garmin G1000 glass cockpit and the body is made of carbon composite metal with 2x MT 3-blade unfeathering propellers. There is also a prototype in circulation that is equipped with two 180 hp Lycoming IO-360 engines.

    Variations of the airplane include: DA42, DA42 M, DA42 L360, DA42 NG, DA42 MPP, and the Dominator II.

    The Diamond DA42 is used mostly by flight training schools, flying clubs, and airborne survey operators in the civil sector. Military uses include surveillance.

    The Twin Star was the first fixed wing, diesel, Jet aircraft to cross the North Atlantic in a nonstop trip in 12.5 hours. In 2010, the first aircraft publicly flown on algae-derived jet fuel was a DA42.
