    Detailed Description

****SOLD***** 2099 TTSN, 115 TSFR, 246 SPOH Low time A185F with Factory Rebuilt, zero-timed engine, Hartzell Top Prop conversion. Extensive, detailed restoration completed with FACTORY ORIGINALITY and RELIABILITY being the guiding principles. Not just another pretty face.
Step One -- Stripping out the functionally and fiscally obsolete wiring, avionics and equipment. About 39 lbs scrapped. Now, a light-weight 185 offering an uncluttered panel with everything working as it should.
Step Two -- Investing tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of labor hours installing AIRFRAME parts and components (not panel ornaments) to ensure reliability and utility. Components signed-off "airworthy" (after 50 years of service) is a far cry from new. NEW PARTS -- dozens of new parts. From nav lights to strobe power packs to voltage regulator to batt/master solenoid to flashing beacon and much more. Many "serviceable parts" were scrapped because of age during this restoration.

New parts make this an airplane you can trust to get you out there and back reliably. As close to buying a new Cessna 185 as you can come. Have it all. Old-school simple, easy to service, parts readily available, annuals at reasonable cost. When it comes to classic airplanes, less is more. Enjoy the FLYING, rather than waiting for the shop to rejigger your doodads.

New paint, new interior, new engine, all logs present and well organized. Your choice. This airplane -- OR -- buy one that gnaws a perpetual hole in your pocket and keeps you in close contact with the service department manager.
Treat yourself to a legacy 185 that's been completely sorted -- a clean slate, needs nothing, well documented, looks and flies great! All ADs complied with, always US registered, recent dynamic prop balance. Current weight & balance report based on an actual weighing -- new empty weight 1742 lbs. Fresh annual with your Bill of Sale.
Dry country history in Illinois, Nevada, California and Texas. Hangared at KJCT (Kimble County) Junction, Texas. Once-in-a-lifetime retro Skywagons like this rarely come up for sale.

Oil filtration was an option on these airplanes. Some engines are being operated with only the factory-supplied oil strainer screen -- a bare minimum -- adequate to trap larger debris. This engine has had the benefit of spin-on oil filtration from day one.

    Interior / Exterior

INTERIOR: Completely restored in 2023 with a stunning black & white retro 70s look. Aviation X in Texas did the headliner and leather seating surfaces. Part of that service is sculpting new Temperfoam substrate with emphasis on fantastic lumbar support, headrests that are actually comfortable, rear seat pockets hold plenty and don't fall apart. You'll love the comfort of these seats!
Vantage Plane Plastics supplied interior plastic trim parts including pilot and co-pilot panel overlays. Originality rules! Every piece has been replaced. The flap/trim tunnel is a fiberglass part by Selkirk for rugged durability.
Underneath, the interior fuselage skins are factory zinc-chromated and a Selkirk foam soundproofing/insulation kit was installed, deleting the factory fiberglass batts. All electrical wiring/components that had become unused/redundant over the years were stripped out to reduce aircraft empty weight. Scat hose to the rear air vents replaced with new. A run of RG400 cable pre-installed to facilitate future installation of a GPS antenna on the cabin roof above the dome light.

EXTERIOR: Paint makes the airplane. An impressive tri-color retro 70s scheme. Completed in 2021 by Prestige Aircraft Painting, Vermont. Meticulous strip/alodine/prime/paint with no expense spared. New windshield, windows, skylights and stabilizer boots. Aviation Axalta over epoxy primer -- the 3 paint codes are in the logbook. No hail damage. No corrosion. Robertson STOL aileron/flap interconnect system installed in 1974 on the new airplane. A short 1990 logbook entry makes reference to wing skin repair, cabin roof repair with no details. No NTSB report. No Form 337 on file. Work done well, it looks right and the airplane is nicely rigged and flies great.
