Bell 206L-4 Aircraft Information
Further modifications made to the model produced the seven seat, single engine LongRanger. The Bell 206L started the line of stretched aircraft. It is powered by an Allison 250-C20B. The higher powered model, the Bell 206L-1 (LongRanger II), uses a 250-C28 engine while the Bell 206L-3 (LongRanger III) and the Bell 206L-4 (LongRanger IV), Bell 206L I/C30P) feature a 250-C30P engine and the 206L-4 has an upgraded transmission.
A twin engine model of the LongRanger was first developed by Tridair Helicopters, the Gemini ST. The Gemini is certified to operate, through all phases of flight, as a single or twin engine aircraft. The Bell equivalent to the Gemini is the Bell 206 LT (TwinRanger). It is based on the 206-4 model of LongRangers and was later replaced by the Bell 427. The last two models in the civil line of the 206 are the Bell 407 that features a four blade rotor, and the Bell 417 which was meant to be an upgrade of the 407 but never made it to production phases. Other variations were made but were only licensed in Italy. These models include the Agusta Bell 206A, the Agusta Bell 206B, the Agusta Bell 206L, and the Agusta Bell 206B-3.
