Detailed Description

Offered for sale is a very nice 1973 Piper Arrow. Piper made the Arrow's cabin an extra 5 inches longer in 1973 compared to previous generations and it makes a world of difference. This airplane flies straight and makes good speed at 135KTS at 10.5GPH. One of the many good things about this airplane is the respectable useful load which is close to much larger airplanes at 995 pounds.

This is a great opportunity to own a very solid and reliable airplane for a fair price. Check out flight aware and you'll see this aircraft has not been a hangar queen. There is no loan and the seller is ready to close using an FAA title company / escrow service. The aircraft is being sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. There is a local CFI who can ferry the aircraft anywhere in the lower 48 and provide an aircraft checkout if required (will provide contact info if you need it; not included in sale). The airplane will be sold with a fresh annual inspection obviously with all airworthiness items addressed.

Avionics / Equipment

The avionics includes a recently (2023) refurbished Garmin 530W that interacts very well with the Garmin 345 Transponder. The Garmin 345 transponder's ADSB-in provides great traffic and weather awareness on the 530W! The Garmin 340 audio panel and the MAC 1700 both work great as do the installed CDIs. The original autopilot components (and electronic trim) are all installed but work intermittently. It may be fixable, but right now we have it marked as inop.

A new flight data systems clock/timer was recently installed (2024), as was a new battery for the 406MHZ ELT in February 2024 (expires 2029).

The pitot static and transponder checks were completed in February 2024 and expire in February 2026.

Airframe

The #1 airframe log (prior to 2014) was lost during maintenance in 2020, but all other logs are complete and all ADs are current. We also have the aircraft record, early 337's, drawings, tags, and other associated documentation.

This airplane did have a gear up landing that resulted in it receiving a fresh overhauled engine in 2012, a new three blade prop in 2012, and a modern paint job. The spar passed the eddy current inspection, had new spar bolts installed, and there have been very in depth annual inspections making sure the airframe and engine are very sound. This arrow also has the one piece windscreen which is sleeker and provides better visibility.

A new Concorde battery was installed in 2020 and a new landing light cover was installed in 2023.

Engines / Mods / Prop

The engine is very strong with less than 700 hours, all cold compressions in the 70's (72/73/76/75), and very little oil consumption.

The airplane also has received numerous other upgrades such as a Surefly electronic magneto, push button Electroair ignition system with magneto switches (2022), plane power voltage regulator (2022), and overhauled right mag (2022), overhauled prop governor (2022).

Interior / Exterior

This airplane is very comfortable to fly with plush leather seats and newer carpet and side panels (2020). New sun visors (2022). Overall would rate the interior a 7 of 10.

The paint has some normal cracking on the nose cowl and some small scratches here or there, but it looks pretty decent from 10 feet away. The wing tips are probably the worst part as they have a decent amount of spider cracks in the paint. With that said, the airplane was recently used for senior pictures by a friend and the airplane didn't need any retouching. Overall would rate the exterior a 7 of 10 as well.

Remarks

The airplane is fairly priced when accounting for the upgrades and avionics and the missing log and less than stellar paint. It's a very solid airplane that flies nice and has been very reliable. I haven't seen many others listed that are better equipped for the price. The only reason I'm selling it is because I'm entering a partnership in a much larger high-performance airplane and don't want to let this one sit. Make me a fair offer that's good for both of us and this airplane could be yours!
