Slightly faster and smoother than the Robinson R44, the Robinson R66 is a five seat, turbine powered helicopter. The R66 was the first Robinson Helicopter to feature a separate cargo compartment. The helicopter has the capacity for one crew member and five passengers. The empty weight is 1280 lb (581 kg) and the loaded weight is 2700 lb (1225 kg). The R66 is powered by the Rolls Royce RR300 turboshaft engine. The cruise speed is 120 knots and the maximum speed is 140 knots.
