East Grand Lake is one of the (mostly wilderness) Chiputneticook Lakes located in Northeastern Maine, USA and Eastern New Brunswick, Canada. The very expansive lake is at the headwaters of the Saint Croix River watershed which flows into Passamaquoddy Bay. Freshwater fish species include landlocked salmon, lake trout (Togue), and smallmouth bass, as well as others. Waters can be fished most of the year during fishing season from January through September.

The lake is second to none. Areas of the lake are over 100' deep, and the water is pristine crystal clear. When the water is calm one can easily see 25' to the bottom. The water quality is excellent. Great lake and surrounding area for boating, open water fishing, ice fishing, kayaking, camping and tenting, ATV riding, hunting, swimming, snowmobiling, and much more.

Due to the lack of development, and conservation efforts surrounding this lake, this is a very quiet area with minimal boating traffic on the lake.

By road, the drive time to the property in the US is approximately 2 hours headed NNE out of Bangor, Maine, USA; or in Canada 2 hours WNW out of Fredericton NB, Canada. There is a US-Canada land border crossing (land port of entry) only 5 miles from the property located at the North end of East Grand Lake in the small towns of Orient, ME, US and Fosterville, NB, CAN.

By air, the property is located approximately 80 miles, as the crow flies NNE , out of Bangor, Maine, about a 30-45 minute floatplane flight. Both US Customs and Canada Border Services are available by phone for customs entry services. CANPASS by advanced phone call works well inbound to Canada. Outbound to the US, US Customs are available for 1 hour advance notice by phone with customs inspection upon arrival in either Bangor or Houlton, ME.

This centrally located vacation property is ideally situated to explore surrounding Atlantic Canada and Northern New England. By land or air; PEI, Quebec City, the Bay of Fundy, historic Fredericton, Gaspe peninsula Saint Stephen, and the Mirimachi are all nearby destinations for your weekend, vacation, or peaceful retirement days spent quietly at the lake.

Restrictions

The lake is 30 miles long! The lake is your runway. The Balm of Gilead Cove is your rough water runway when the water in the open lake gets rough. There are no restrictions on flying, boating, or snowmobiling.
