Fairchild Aircraft

Founded by Sherman Fairchild in 1929, Fairchild Aircraft manufactures civil and military training aircraft. The company changed its name to Fairchild Industries after the death of the founder in 1971. The company then purchased Swearingen and began manufacturing the Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner, a civil aircraft with a military counterpart. In 1996, the company purchased Dornier and became Fairchild Dornier.
