    Piper Clipper Aircraft Information

An extended fuselage model of the Piper PA-15 Vagabond, the Piper Clipper was designed in 1947. The PA-16 Clipper has the capacity for one crew member and three passengers. The empty weight is 850 lb (385 kg) and the maximum takeoff weight is 1650 lb (748 kg). Cruise speed is 102 knots (117 mph, 188 km/h), stall speed is 43 knots (50 mph, 80 km/h), and maximum speed is 109 knots (125 mph, 203 km/h). The rate of climb is 580 ft/min (177 m/min).

A stretched and refined version of the Vagabond the Piper PA-16 Clipper is intended to seat four people. The Clipper features an extra wing tank, added door to accommodate the new seating, and a Lycoming O-235 engine. The aircraft retained the control sticks that were common in aircraft derived from the "Cub" family during that time.
