Detailed Description

Beautiful 1944 Stearman PT-13D (N68488). Fully restored in 1993 and has been flying air tours (AeroLegends.com) on the Oregon Coast routinely since then. Approx 1000 hrs since restoration. Meticulously maintained, stored in a heated hangar, and flown on beautiful days routinely about 50-100 hrs/yr. New Radial Engines R680-17 installed in 2021 just broken in with ~130 hrs. McCauley ground adjustable prop with current AD. Redline brakes, Bendix/King KY97A comm, Bendix/King KT76A transponder, Sigtronics SPO-22 intercom, and David Clark headsets. Beautiful running and flying airplane that is a legend in the local area and will be missed. Contact me for additional information. Come see and fly the airplane on the gorgeous Oregon Coast. I'm a current CFI for checkout purposes. Can also discuss including the turn key air tour business if interested.

Avionics / Equipment

Basic VFR aircraft supporting local air tour rides. Bendix/King KY97A comm, Bendix/King KT76A transponder, Sigtronics SPO-22 intercom with David Clark headsets. Towbar, cockpit cover, and assorted spare parts included.

Airframe

Sold by the government in 1949 (have all logbooks) and went into crop dusting in Central California. Had a ground mishap in 1975 (see attached report) and went into an extensive restoration. Flew again in 1993 and was purchased by a retired USAF/airline pilot who brought the airplane to the Oregon Coast and started an Air Tour business. I am a retired USAF/contractor test pilot (CFI) who bought the airplane in 2016 and have continued the Air Tour business. Total airframe time is just under 11,000 hrs, but only 1000 hrs since restoration.

Engines / Mods / Prop

New Radial Engines R680-17 installed in Sep 2021. Currently just broken in with about 130 hrs. (see logbook) Prop is a ground adjustable McCauley with current AD inspection from Western Propeller (see logbook)

Interior / Exterior

Leather seats in good shape. Covered in Ceconite in the early 1990's stored in heated hangar and only flown on beautiful days - in good shape and continually maintained.

Remarks

Sadly after 8 very enjoyable years, it's time to let her go. I turn 75 this year and although I'm still healthy and proficient, the Air Tour business continues to grow in popularity and is more than we want. I could have been at the airport every day during the last Spring - Fall season. It's time for other priorities and to let someone else enjoy this classic. If you are interested in a profitable turn key air tour business, we can discuss. Website AeroLegends.com. Come see us and fly.
